 Over a Decade Together

Time sure does fly by ... Tiffanie & Ann have been coaching together for over a decade in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Goleta and now back in Ventura.  It feels like yesterday when we first moved to California, but it was nearly 14 years ago!  So much has changed, but the one thing that remains constant is our passion for the sport, and to keep it safe for all divers in our program!  We strive to help all of our students achieve their goals and love the sport while having fun.  During our years together as a coaching "team", we both have had so many life changing events ... Tiffanie started coaching at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta 2011-2015, married Adam Randall in July 2013, they purchased their first home in November 2015 (a 34' live aboard sailboat), had her first child August 2016 (Sadie Mae Randall), had a tragic and crippling accident in March 2018 - fracturing her pelvis in multiple locations - she has a permanent metal plate and wire holding all of the bone pieces in her pelvis together.  Ann has also had multiple events ... from coaching at Los Angeles Valley College 2006-2010, Rio Mesa High School 2006-2011 & 2014-2016, Birmingham Charter High School 2007-2011, University of California - Santa Barbara  2011-2014,  Ventura College 2015-present, Foothill Technology High School 2017-present, Ventura High School 2019-present, Thousand Oaks High School 2019-, fractured hip 2013, hip replacement 2015, fractured both fibula & tibia 2016, replaced fatigued metal with titanium rods inside fib/tib November 2017, bone graft & marrow transplant in November 2018.  Our injuries had nothing to do with diving, but diving had everything to do with our recovery.  Through all of this, both of us continued to coach.  Faith and Love for the sport is what keeps us going.  If we did not have our passion or the mental strength we learned from diving,  we would not have recovered as quickly.

Passion, drive, determination, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, quick reflexes, mathematical understanding of how each dive works are things we strive to teach.  We also strive to teach our students how to be safe not only while diving, but everywhere.  Tiffanie and Ann are both safe sport certified, the AAU, USA Diving, Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center, ALL HIGH SCHOOLS, and CALCODIV require a thorough background check to coach.  In today's society we can't allow any minor to be alone with an adult, and have established a buddy system for locker room use.  In addition, we have also established a private lesson rule:

-Private Lessons may only be done at a pool where there is a 3rd party "lifeguard* on duty".  Parent(s) may not fill the role of the 3rd party requirement.  PV Pool is an example, and the fee for 2019 is:  $55/hr - this rate includes:  any pool rental fee + instructor fee.  All divers and coaches for CALCODIV must have a current AAU membership w/AB on file with us or bring a copy to the lesson.  AAU Membership with the Added Benefit provides insurance for both diver and coach at any supervised diving activity including non-AAU sanctioned events, travel to & from practice as well as events.  The insurance benefits include up to $10 million in liability, it serves as a secondary medical policy & pays 100% of the medical bills that your primary insurance does not pay after $250 deductible.  It also has several additional benefits, but the two I mentioned are so valuable I don't need to mention any more, and I know first hand it works.

*Lifeguard - all CALCODIV coaches are American Red Cross certified, and will act as first responders, but for safety reasons 2 trained lifeguards should be on duty in the event of an unexpected incident.  Reality - ARC adheres that 2 trained lifeguards are needed to properly remove an injured diver from the water on a backboard.
